Today was a really hard day for our family.If you’re a pet owner, you know – they aren’t just pets. They are family. You love them like your children. So when something happens to them, it’s heartbreaking. It just shatters you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two days ago, my grandpuppies escaped their fenced-in yard.Two days of searching, posting, and praying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We looked everywhere and hoped so hard they would just come running home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we found out they gained their wings. They were always together in life, and this was no different. They will always be together now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want to take a moment to thank the person who made that phone call to my son-in-law to let him know what happened. I know that had to be one of the hardest things to do. I’ve never had to call a stranger and give them such heartbreaking news. That took a lot of courage, and honestly, a lot of heart. You are a really special person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please keep my family in your thoughts tonight as we handle this heartbreak and loss, especially my grandbabies. They loved those dogs so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I promised from the very beginning of this blog that I would keep things real. That means sharing the sad parts too, not just the chaos and popcorn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this life, we never know what’s coming. Who we will gain or who we will lose. This is why I truly believe we should show the people – and our pets – that we care about them every single day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell them you love them. Because we don’t know what the future holds, and we don’t know when they might be taken from us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I sit here thinking about our Winnie and Runa, I get angry wondering why this would happen. They were great dogs. They loved everyone. They loved their babies – my grandbabies – so much. Why would they be taken from us? It’s not fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know I will never get that answer. And I know I can’t do anything about it. And yes, I know being angry is part of grieving. I understand that. It just doesn’t make it any easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So tonight, please hug your fur-babies a little tighter. Let them know you care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
